MOONG BREAD PAKODA” is one of the most healthy and popular food in India. It is generally made on ‘tawa’. A soft – salty flavoured food.

It can be made in different ways like filling the potato mixture between two breads, paneer etc.But coming to healthy food, plain tawa moong bread pakoda is the good option. 
During, the rainy season, Indian people mostly prefer pakoda in the evening snack. Also whenever any guest arrives we make it with different veggies. Also we add hot chai, that makes the time more enjoyable. 
Coming back to the health, eating the pakoda made on tawa is very healthy choice. I have also tried this and regularly thrice a week, I eat during my breakfast. As moong is very high in protein and low in fat, it is very light. My whole family love this breakfast and also this can be good choice during evening snacks.
So today, I am going to tell you two methods to make this recipe.
First we will make of plain bread
To make this we only need brown bread( we can use plain bread also up to your choice. But for healthy breakfast, brown bread is better option), moong daal.
  • 10-12 bread
  • Moong daal – one cup 
  • Salt
  • Coriander strip
  • Turmeric(optional)

Why I told turmeric to be optional because many people doesn’t use this but in my opinion we must use turmeric as it gives a good colour in it is also good for health, looks good when it is mixed in the paste.

How to make the batter:- 
Soak the moong daal in water for 2 hours or also you can soak it for the whole night.
Add the soaked moong daal in the jar, grind it till the roughness of the daal becomes a paste. It hardly takes 30sec. Take the paste in the bowl, add salt as per the taste, add turmeric, add coriander leafs(chopped). 
Steps to make the moong bread pakoda:-
  1. Cut the breads into two half.
  2. Put the tawa on the flame, let be hot.
  3. Add on drop of oil on the tawa.
  4. Apply the paste on the upper half of the bread.
  5. Put the bread on the tawa, make sure the paste area of the bread will be placed on tawa. 
  6. Again add the paste on the upper part of the bread on the same bread. Drop some oil on it.
  7. After 5 min turn the bread and let the another side to be cooked. 
  8. After it is cooked, proceed the same process for all the slice of the bread.
  9. The healthy food is ready.

You can enjoy this with green coriander chutney, tomato ketchup as per your choice.

Second ways to make is filling potato mixture between two bread slice.
To make this we need bread, moong daal, potatoes.
How to make batter? 
Above, I have already mentioned about the batter, the same process will be followed in this too. 
Soak the moong daal for 2hours. Grind it till it become paste. But not too much thin paste.
Now add some salt in the paste, turmeric, coriander leaves. 
How to make potatoes fillings?
  • Take 8-10 potatoes. Boil the potatoes. Mash all the potatoes. 
  • Chop the onion in small pieces and also tomatoes. 
  • Now, put a pan on the flame. After the pan is hot, add 2tbs of oil.
  • Add the chopped onion, tomato and fry it.
  • Add the mashed potatoes in it and add salt as per taste.
  • Fry for 5 min.
  • Now the fillings is ready.

Steps to make the pakoda:-

  1. Put the tawa on the flame. Let it be hot.
  2. Take the two slice of bread. Fill the potatoes mixture between the two bread.
  3. Now the tawa is hot. Add little oil .
  4. Add the moong daal paste on the bread, place the paste area of the bread on the middle of the tawa, let  the area to be cooked.
  5. Now, put the paste again on the upper part of the bread , add one drop of oil on it.
  6. Turn the bread and again cook it for 5 min.
  7. The potato filling moong bread  pakoda is ready.

How to serve:- 
Keep the slices on the plate. Serve this with the green chutney or tomato sauce  as per your choice.
